ciao a tutti
i am currently doing some research on italo australian gender roles compared to anglo australian gender roles . ie: italo australian culture and beliefs compared to the anglo saxon culture
for example; my mum always told me that she was never allowed out but her brother was..do injustices like these still occur today in the italo australian culture?
please write back to me on your thoughts

I dont think you can call it injustice.
It is a way of life inherited by traditional italians.
main reason for girls not to go out alone was for security or protection.
if they met someone trustworthy then it was no problem for a girl to go out.
only thing i agree in your view is old italian view if italian girl goes out alone, etc than she is viewed as bad or criticised unfairly.
this in that view is injustice but most times the action to not let girls out is parents way of caring, even if it is ignorant or old fashioned.
anyhow, last few years it has not been safe for boys or girls to go out as too many violent incidents.
